James W. Davis is Professor of International Politics and Director of the Institute of Political Science at the University of St. Gallen, where he focuses on issues of international security, geopolitics and military strategy.
A US citizen, Dr Davis holds a PhD from Columbia University and has published in leading journals on international institutions, foreign policy, military strategy, arms control and negotiations. He is the author or editor of four books.
He has served on the boards of international corporations and non-profit foundations, as an advisor to U.S. government agencies, as an expert member of the German Bundestag's Parliamentary Commission on the Foreign Deployment of the German Armed Forces, as a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Expert Group on Germany's Image Abroad, as a member of the NATO Supreme Allied Commander's Delegation to Afghanistan, and on other commissions and working groups.
