Matthias Kamp

Matthias Kamp has been NZZ's China correspondent since August 2021. From January 2019 to July 2021, he worked at NZZ's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, where he was head of the Asia team.
Kamp studied Sinology and Economics at the University of Trier and Fu Dan University in Shanghai, while also working for regional newspapers and the Handelsblatt office in Beijing. He began his career in 1995 with a traineeship at the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists, part of the Handelsblatt publishing group in Düsseldorf. From 1998, he was responsible for Southeast Asia as Singapore correspondent for Wirtschaftswoche. In 2002, he returned to the Düsseldorf headquarters as Asia editor and coordinator for special projects in China. Since 2007, he has been Wirtschaftswoche's Beijing correspondent. From 2012 to 2018, he reported from Munich as a correspondent for Wirtschaftswoche, specialising in corporate reporting and Southeast Europe.
